Program Overviews

Piedmont offers 4 different program levels to fit your athletes level of play and time commitment. Below is an overview of each of our programs. For more information or help with your questions/concerns, please refer down to the Tryouts FAQ section of this website. If you still have more questions/concerns please contact us at

National Program

The NATIONAL program is for the athlete and family looking to play the game at the highest of levels for 8 - 9 months. It is designed for the athlete that wishes to play at the collegiate level, not to be confused with NCAA Division I only but all collegiate programs. The level of competition at tournaments and three days of training per week gives the National team player the opportunity to excel within the sport. Piedmont Volleyball Club has had great results with athletes attending and playing at the collegiate level after Piedmont.

Season Length: 13s-17s: November 2022-June 2023                            18s: November 2022-April 2023

Cost: 13U - $2,850, 14U - 17U: $3,250, 18U: $2,600. All dues will be divided up into 7 payments, spread out over several months.

Select Program

The SELECT program is entering into it's 3rd season of existence for the 2022 - 23 season! We took the best parts of the regional and zonal program to merge them into 1 great program! The program is geared toward athletes that love the game of volleyball and want to train at a high level with a goal to advance up to higher programming. Teams will compete against other travel programs from NC, SC, TN & VA. Tournaments will consist of 1 - Day and 2 - Day events, all the events are within driving distance.  It is designed for the multi-sport athlete that may play sports through the season. It's the perfect fit for families seeking more limited travel and a smaller investment than our Travel and National programs.

Season Length: 12s-16s: December 2022- Mid - Late March 2023

Cost: $1,400 (split into 4 payments)

Travel Program

The TRAVEL program is designed for the advanced athlete and family looking for slightly a junior national schedule that doesn't have the 8-9 month national season commitment. Our travel teams will play against some of the highest competition among the Carolinas and Southeast & Mid-Atlantic region. Piedmont Volleyball Club created this hybrid program for athletes to have the similar training and structure of our National program to advance their skill set.

Season Length: 13s-18s: December 2022 - Mid-April 2023

Cost: $2,300 (split into 5 payments)

Regional Program

Are you new to volleyball or new to junior volleyball? The REGIONAL program is a perfect introduction to the junior club volleyball world. Our regional program is set up to be a 3 and half month season that practices twice  per week with approximately 4 tournaments locally. The program will include Piedmont's high level training model with a focus on establishing a passion for the game, work ethic and determination to progress to the next level.

Season Length: 12s-14s: December 2022- Early March 2023

Cost: $900 (Split into 2 payments)

General Tryout INFORMATION

The Carolina Region has changed their policies and rules regarding when players can tryout and the designated signing date. These changes follow suit with what the entire country does as it relates to club tryouts dates and we're moving closer toward the commitment process. The changes occurred during a board meeting in the middle of June. With clubs around the state all doing different tryout dates and processes, we have decided to do what we feel is best for the players, families and the club. We have a obligation as a club to maintain our National reputation to continue to compete with the other national programs across the state.

Our intent is NOT to compete with High School programs, nor try to take away the opportunity for players to compete for their prospective schools. These changes allow North Carolina clubs to continue to move in a direction that sets them up to be successful  without interference to the High School season.

  • Tryouts will be closed to all spectators, this allows a smooth tryout process and limited distractions.
  • We have condensed the tryout process this year to avoid any conflicts with the High School season.
  • Tournament schedules will be updated as soon as possible per program, these are subject to change based on acceptance and conflicts.

Tryout FAQ

Q: Which program should my athlete sign up for during tryouts?

A: We ask families to tryout for the program they can make the time and financial commitment to. We have multiple programs to fit our family's busy schedules.

Q: Since there are two weekends of tryouts, do I need to attend both weekends of tryouts?

A: We ask that you come to just one weekend of tryouts! It is to your benefit that you attend tryouts as early as you can so that our coaches can evaluate you.

Q: Does my athlete need to attend both days of tryouts?

A: We highly recommend that players attend both days of tryouts so that our evaluators and coaches can get to know you and see your whole skillset.

Q: If my athlete makes a team, will their club team practices interfere with the high school season?

A: No! Practices will be optional Sunday afternoons which will not interfere with the high school season.

Q: Last year, my athlete played up in age group last year, which age should I sign up for?

A: Unless you've had a conversation with our admin staff at Piedmont, we ask that you please sign up for your age group as defined by the USAV age chart.

Q: If my athlete is offered a spot, how does the offer/bid process work?

A: Athletes will be given a bid no more than 24 hours after the last day of tryouts. Athletes may receive offers as early as the first day of tryouts. Once your athlete receives their offer, you have 24 hours to make a decision. We ask for the 24 hour commitment period as we want to be respectful of those who have received alternate bids waiting to hear back from us.

Q: I received my bid, but I'm not sure what the team name and ranking is.

A: Piedmont has four program levels ranking in skill and length of season. National is the highest skill level and longest season, then Travel, Select, and Regional.

Q: I tried out for one program but received a bid for another program, what happened?

A: Piedmont uses a "trickle down" process when making and forming teams. If we are unable to offer you a bid at one level, you will be automatically considered for the next program level down before receiving an alternate bid. Likewise, if you tryout at one level and we think your athlete can play up in level, we will reach out to you regarding the change in program.

Q: How much is the Uniform Package?

A: Uniform packages range anywhere from $75 - $200 depending on the program and the required pieces for each program. Uniform packages will be announced at tryouts.
